South Korean mobile phone maker Samsung has announced the mass production of its 2GB low-power double-data-rate 3 (LPDDR3) RAM for mobile devices.

According to Samsung, the new RAM is capable of offering data transfer rates at up to 1600 megabits per second (Mbps) per pin, almost 50 percent faster than LPDDR2 DRAM. When it comes to packages, it can deliver transfers of up to 12.8 gigabytes per second (GB/s).
