Motorola RAZR Coming to South Africa in November via Vodacom

Motorola Mobility has just announced the upcoming availability of its latest Android flagship smartphone, the Motorola RAZR, in South Africa.

The superphone is expected to hit shelves in November via Vodacom and will be available with two-year agreements starting at R269 ($35 or 25 EUR) per month on Business Call, or R6999 $905 (638 EUR) outright.


The exquisite smartphone is made to last even the harshest environments. Hard aluminum, KEVLAR fiber, Corning Gorilla Glass are some of the materials used for manufacture that give the phone a stylish and solid look.

In addition, the phone features splash-guard coating, even on the electrical boards inside, which protects makes almost waterproof.

“With the new Motorola RAZR we have re-imagined an icon. The most captivating Android-powered smartphone on the scene, it’s thinner than your friends’ smartphone and better looking too. We partnered with Vodacom to launch Motorola RAZR, and we know Vodacom customers will be lining up to be the first to have the next generation Motorola RAZR,” said Megan Nicholas, mobile devices lead, Motorola Mobility South Africa.


The stunning 4.3-inch Super AMOLED Advanced display supports 16 million colors and 540 x 960 pixels resolution, allowing for incredibly vivid images.


On the inside, the RAZR is equipped with a 1.2 GHz dual-core TI OMAP 4430 processor and the latest PowerVR SGX540 graphics processing unit.


It also packs 1GB of RAM, 16GB of internal memory, as well as microSD card slot for memory expansion (up to 32GB), 16GB memory card included).


Another strong point of the thinnest LTE smartphone is the superior 8-megapixel camera with autofocus, LED flash and full HD (1080) video recording capabilities.


Software-wise, the phone is powered by Android 2.3 Gingerbread, but an Ice Cream Sandwich upgrade is already expected to arrive in early 2012.


Furthermore, Motorola RAZR comes preloaded with the Motorola MotoCast app, which allows users to stream or download content from a computer directly to the phone.
