We spent some time
with the Acer W4 during our visit in Berlin for this year's IFA trade fair and we were quite impressed by the phone's stylish look.We've been told by the folks from Acer that the device will be officially announced sometime in October, but most likely it will be labeled with a different name.
Well, that just happened, as Acer has officially introduced its Windows Phone Mango device as Acer Allegro.No surprise here either, as the Allegro was launched in India almost two weeks ago, along with the HTC Radar and Samsung Omnia W.
According to the guys over at WPCentral, Acer Allegro will be available in France in black and white, exactly the colors we spotted at IFA 2011, for 300 EUR (425 USD). However, the smartphone won't hit shelves until mid-November.
Acer Allegro is a second-tier Windows Phone device, so it doesn't come with anything spectacular in terms of hardware.
The phone is equipped with a standard 1 GHz single core Qualcomm MSM8255 processor and offers an unusually low storage, only 8GB of internal memory.
Unfortunately, users cannot expand the amount of storage because the phone lacks a microSD card slot.
Acer Allegro measures 11.6 x 5.9 x 13mm and weighs 126g (battery included). The phone looks rather stylish, even though it's just a mid-budget handset.
It comes with a 3.6-inch WVGA capacitive touchscreen display with 16 million colors support and 480 x 800 pixels resolution.
Furthermore, the Allegro also sports a 5-megapixel camera with LED flash, as well as a range of sensors, including accelerometer, proximity sensor and light sensor.
The phone is powered by an 1300 mAh Li-Ion battery and offers standard connectivity features such as Wi-Fi, Bluetooth and A-GPS.
